I gotta say it was a good day

It's time again for the Wonderful World of Abbi Tatton. For those of you airheads, Ms. Tatton is the co-host of the segment Inside the Blogs on CNN's Inside Politics, and she's something to see. You should tune in. Seeing Ms. Tatton now is like listening to Edward R. Murrow during the Blitz. Some day, you can pull your grandchildren up on your knee and say, "I used to watch her back when she hosted that show about blogs!" And the wee ones will say, "Ooooo!"

Today was an especially notable day, the reason for which I'll get to in a minute. But first the teasers. The first one showed Ms. Tatton apparently telling her co-host Jacki something, causing Jacki to look up from studying her notes. Must have been interesting - of course, anything Ms. Tatton says is. The second teaser showed her adjusting her white binder while again chatting. I wish I could read lips - I so want to know what they talk about as the camera pans around them.

The segment got underway shortly thereafter (here comes the reason why today was notable). I was distractedly lounging and watching the tape when I saw something that literally made me leap up: Ms. Tatton had a new necklace on! Now that is what I call an interesting development. It was hard to see at first, but thanks to some extreme close-ups, I managed to get a fairly good view of it. It was gold, first of all, and looked wonderful lying on top of her wonderfully toned skin. At first I thought it was a long chain that was doubled over, like a big strand of pearls, but it was too perfectly ringed around her neck. Ok - it was made of two concentric bands - they were sparkly but looked like bands and not chains or links or somesuch. But they had some kind of divisions or joints in them to give them the sparkly effect, depending on which parts caught the light. The bands had flat circular ornaments (also gold) on them: two grouped together, one on top of the other (one on each row). The groupings were spaced along the bands somewhat closely: the center ones right in the middle of her chest, and two more just by the right edge of her blouse (I'm assuming the same for the left side but it was more hidden). The ornaments were flat against her skin, and the top center one appeared slightly larger and entirely smooth (perhaps engraved?). The one below it, and the ones in the other groupings, were smaller (a little) and appeared to have some kind of divot or ornamental indentation in the centers. They gleamed very well, and gave off an exquisite light. The piece was quite nice, all around. I wonder what the story behind it is. It's certainly not any stretch to suppose Ms. Tatton had some beau give it to her as a special gift: perhaps for the summer solstice? It's excuse enough. Imagine how lucky it would be to get to give a gift like that to someone like her. Talk about enjoying spending your money. That would be the nicest feeling in the world. It's depressing thinking that some other guy (maybe) gets to do it, but the warm glow it gave off is still too strong for anything other than warm thoughts.

I know I said I wouldn't do this (and I'll have something to say about that soon), but I couldn't help noticing Ms. Tatton and Jacki dressed similarly today: similar blouses and with necklaces. Like stylish bookends.

Ok - the segment started about the Rove story. Ms. Tatton noted all the different foci of attention, landing on Judith Miller. She quoted AcePilots and its noting of a post on the Huffington Post that rounded up a lot of the story's threads. For her next turn, Ms. Tatton turned to the Roberts storyline, showing the Democratic website where one can submit questions for the nominee. Then Ms. Tatton wrapped up her turn by speaking into the camera again, before turning off to her right to hand it back to host Ed Henry; the effect, enhanced by the close-in view, was of her talking directly to you and suddenly calling off to a friend in the kitchen, as if to tell him to bring her a drink.

The third teaser had Ms. Tatton seeming to have a good chuckle at something; Jacki must be a funny gal. The second segment was about the Boy Scout jamboree that had such bad luck (as a former troop leader and attendee at a jamboree, I empathized). Ms. Tatton cited Emeritbadges and its description that "nothing went as planned." And that was it for the day.

All in all, quite a good day, wouldn't you say? Tomorrow should be pretty mellow, I suspect. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. Buh-bye.
